The Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) Market Development Team is on a mission to increase the use of sustainable, soy-based solutions to benefit future generations of farmers and consumers. Over the last year, the It’s Sustainably Soy Certification Program has recognized several producers and users of soy-based products.  

Certifying a project or product through ISA provides companies and organizations with a resource they can list in reports and publish as part of their ongoing sustainability initiatives. As consumers and companies shift away from carbon-intensive chemicals, adopting soy-based inputs promotes environmental sustainability, boosts the economy and supports Illinois farm families. As more companies adopt sustainable practices and we near the benchmark years targeted to reach environmental goals, we anticipate a surge in applications and adaptation of this program for marketing purposes and environmental stewardship. 

The program piques consumer interest in companies striving for sustainability and allows certified companies to gain recognition for producing sustainable products. This, in turn, increases demand for soy, which directly benefits our farmers by creating new market opportunities. Additionally, It’s Sustainably Soy raises awareness of ISA’s initiatives and Illinois’ position as a leader in the soy-based product industry.
