The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS) has been researching the emerging soybean disease known as red crown rot (RCR) by trying to characterize the diversity of RCR pathogen isolates across Illinois. If you suspect your crops are affected by RCR and want confirmation, you can support this research by sending diseased samples to the USDA-ARS lab in Urbana free of charge.

Join us for the Illinois Field of Beans BBQ Grand Slam! Presented by the Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) and the Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS), this professional barbecue competition series consists of four events within the larger KCBS Competition Circuit and will judge competitors on three categories: chicken, pork, and ribs. The winner of the Grand Slam will be announced on September 21 at the “Praise the Lard” BBQ Competition in Murphysboro, Ill.

The Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) Achievement Awards Program honors individuals who have impacted the Illinois soybean industry. The five award categories include the Chairman’s Award, Champion of the Year Award, Excellence in Media Award, Friend of Illinois Soybean Farmers Award, and Farm Family of the Year Award. Nominations are due Friday, July 12. Winners will be announced in the fall at the ISA Impact Awards Banquet.
