BLOOMINGTON, ILL – September 28, 2021 – Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) has named Abigail Peterson Director of Agronomy, effective September 23, 2021.
A Certified Crop Adviser, Peterson earned a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy from Iowa State University in Ames, IA, where she also participated in a College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Ambassador Program, Soil and Water Conservation Club, and an Agriculture Study Abroad Program. Peterson has always been active out in the field and working alongside farmers, including her experiences at the National Laboratory for Agriculture and the Environment, in soybean production in southeast Iowa, and co-managing over 30 cover crop trials in Illinois and Missouri for the Soil Health Partnership.
In her former role as ISA Conservation Agronomy Manager, Peterson helped to guide conservation efforts, developed soil health transition plans, guided agronomic decision-making with cover crop applications to conventional systems, and coordinated with multiple state organizations. Now, she will be taking on an expanded role within the organization, including managing ISA’s Precision Conservation Program (PCM) partnership program with IL Corn.
“Abigail’s proven experience in helping Illinois farmers with the adoption of new conservation practices, and developing soil health identification and planning strategies, made her an excellent fit for this leadership role and the agronomic offerings at ISA,” says ISA CEO, John Lumpe. “She’s passionate about her work in the field and helping farmers, and we are excited for Illinois soybean producers to benefit from her leadership.”
